2nd part of May has been so exciting for the world of cinema. fashion, celebrities and lifestyle. Everyone was watching the news from Cannes in France. Cannes is located in a glamourous part of the French Riviera, with luxury hotels, restaurants and a posh crowd. This place is the most beautiful canvas for International cinema and the most iconic red carpet.
After the pandemic finally festival returned with grace and force. In 2020 the Festival was closed and last year it was very modest. 2022 has been a shift and back to the annual extravaganza. Stars of cinema came to France from all over the world. People once again could be part of this event. They could admire the outfits of famous actresses and models. Voting which dress was the winner and who had the most beautiful jewellery. Some people followed the press, some watched the streaming or managed to see it by themselves and some dreamed about being in Cannes during the Festival. It’s a dream and the world could live this dream for nearly 2 weeks.
The Cannes International Film Festival took 11 intense days, with screening nearly all day long, it was a very intense time for all involved. After these 11 days of screening the Closing Ceremony took place on Saturday, 28th of May and was truly an event that the cinema industry was waiting for.

Highlights
This year was the 75th edition and paid tribute to Tom Cruise. He is the star of Top Gun: Maveric, which had its premiere during the festival. We could see him on the red carpet next to British Royalties, Prince Willian and his wife Kate. The film itself received five-minute standing applause after its first showing and Cruise himself was awarded a surprise Palme d’Or.
Considering the current world situation and was in Ukraine was also visible during the festival itself. There were protests on the Red Carpet and also dialogue about the purpose of cinema in wartime. As a support Russian journalists didn’t receive the accreditations and couldn’t participate in the Festival.
An important movie o be mentioned is Mariopolis 2 finished by the fiance of Lithuanian director Mantas Kvidaravicos, who was killed by the Russian military in Mariupol during the filming. Mariopolis 2 shows life during the war, bombing and survival. It is revealing images that convey tragedy and hope.
